WALDEN'S PONDS

Tom Hillegass' grandson, Walden, is named after the Massachusetts pond made famous by Henry David Thoreau. Walden loves the water (see photo below) and looks forward (we think) to the day when he can scout and enjoy swimming holes with his Granddad.

WALDEN

WALDEN ENJOYING HIS POND

In anticipation of our future explorations, we are identifying swimming holes that are most family-friendly and designating them as "WALDEN'S PONDS". Family-friendly means that there is easy access to the place (not a long hike)and it is USUALLY safe (be careful- anyplace can be unsafe in high water levels!). Also, there is a gradual entrance to the water, we believe the water to be clean and there is typically not a rowdy, party crowd.
